post thanksgiving hustle!

29 11 2009

Hoping that everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving!  Myself, Mr. Krist Krueger, and Cody piled in the van and drove down to California to see my family.  It was very exciting since I haven’t seen my family on a holiday in 5 years! It was so great to see everyone, and sit around, talk to my dad, adrink wine, cook a ton of food, and just be out in the woods for a few.  Now that we are back in PDX, it’s all systems go for the upcoming shows and activites!  Horray!  How was your Thanksgiving?  xo Heidi

Busy week! Murals! Ink Illustrations!

13 11 2009

Wow!  What a busy week this has turned into!  Outside of working and moming, I started and finished a mural.  There is a new gallery in the Kenton neighborhood of North Portland, it’s called Black Door Gallery.  Mellissa Green the curator/manager is  a really sweetie that really knows how to make a PB&J.  On Wednesday I rode up there with my mural supplies snug in my messenger bag, got lost and wound up on the Columbia Slough Trail, which is really lost.  When the bike route signs have one arrow going to Vancouver and it’s four miles away, and Downtown Portland is twenty, you have gone to far.  Completly forgetting I had my bike map in my bag, I figured out where I was and got there double time.  I painted a city getting plugged in by one power line, and an electric storm.  It was a fun day, listened to some Al Green and got down.  This is the result, start to finish.

Love Love Love

Yesterday, I had to finish a project that has been a bit difficult for me.  I have a piece in a show curated by Throwing Knives Art Collective in Denver for December, along with a few other out of state shows, that the work is already finished for. But, the Denver piece has been challenging as it is on paper!  Not on wood, not 15×20 feet big.  But on paper, with ink, and barely any text.  Ink illustrations are on of my favorite things, but usually they are B&W so it’s not as big of a deal, or if colored they are on wood, and wood is much more forgiving than paper.  But, I am really happy with my end result.

New stuff…

6 11 2009

The Mountain Goats will be playing in Portland on the 11th of this month, you can bet you sweet asses that I will be there, singing along and having my heart cut out by Mr. John Darnelle. New video is up on Pitchfork, and it’s beautiful.

Speaking of beautiful wonderful, and thing that will make you cry, (if you don’t cry, you are a robot). Sigor Ros just released this 92 min. documentary about their return to Iceland. It seems as though they have no real plans to play again, so watch this. I am a sucker for this band, everything they do is so perfect, visually, sonically, and hits me right in the heart.

So I guess what I am saying is go fall in love with beautiful music, and the lovely world around you.

Weezer Snuggie!

It’s broken! I killed it! This has been the worst flu/cold thing ever, but I killed it with tea, juice, hella cold meds, and general bad assery. Time to get back to what I am good at, which is kicking ass! Today I have two flyer routes to hit, two art shows to hang, and a bartending shift. It’s going to be a super long day, but that’s what happens when you spend three days in bed, wishing for a quicker death than the one you are being handed…love to all, see you later!
